When was the iPod Invented and interesting facts about iPod

The Apple iPod is the best selling portable media player in history. As of January 2008, over 140 million iPods have been sold. Apple iTunes is used to transfer music and other programs onto iPods and millions of songs, movies, television shows and video games are bought by people through iTunes everyday.

When was the iPod Invented:

In late 2000, Apple wanted to tap into the market of digital devices that were being purchased by consumers. They knew that digital cameras and camcorders were very competitive businesses and they would be unlikely to crack the market. However, Apple realized that digital music players were very large and difficult to easily carry around. Apple decided they could easily improve upon the music players and decided to develop their own. It took less than a year to develop the iPod, which were unveiled on the 23rd of October, 2001. The iPod was marketed as a product that put 1000 songs in your pocket. While sales were quite slow in 2002 and 2003, the iPod increased in popularity rapidly during 2004, 2005 and 2006. Today, over 40% of the profits Apple makes come from iPod sales. Now lets look on interesting facts.

Six Facts about iPods:

Fact 1: The iPod shuffle was the first screenless iPod.
Fact 2: iPods are often used to train nurses and other college (university) students.
Fact 3: iPods have been critically acclaimed for being easy to use, their clean design and their innovation.
Fact 4: Most songs sell for US$0.99 on Apple iTunes (price is different in each country).
Fact 5: The iPod has been criticized for forcing people to use iTunes to buy songs, although you can also put songs on your iPod from eMusic and Amie Street.
Fact 6: Originally, iPods only worked with Macs. This is probably why the iPod failed to sell well in its first two years.
